25th annual Act-so Competition and Performance set for April 3rd!

The local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in partnership with the City of Eugene will present the 25th Annual ACT-SO Competition on Sunday April 3rd, 5-7p.m. at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts. ACT-SO is an acronym for Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics. Students in middle and high school from throughout the Eugene and Springfield area will compete in various categories ranging from Dance to film production. The free event will feature performances in the Silva Concert hall and are open to the public The ACT-SO program calls on the dedication and commitment of community volunteers and business leaders to serve as mentors and coaches to promote academic and artistic excellence among African American students and their peers. Students work for the opportunity to attend the National ACT-SO event in Cincinnati, OH. Donations can be given to help local students represent Oregon on the national stage.
