With poetry, music, and film we welcome Winnemem Wintu Chief Caleen Sisk as special guest speaker.
The Winnemem Wintu are the Middle Water People of the McCloud River. They are currently facing the threat of eradication of their sacred land by the raising of Shasta Dam. With 26 miles of Winnemem Wintu land already underwater from the building of Shasta Dam in 1930’s and 1940’s, and with no compensation for that loss, the current plan to raise Shasta Dam would drown all that is left of Winnemem culture.
Please stand in solidarity with the Winnemem Wintu to fight this act of ethnocide.
