Intimate Apparel at Very Little Theatre Features Panel Discussion with Local Black Women
Lynn Nottage, acclaimed African American playwright, crafts a compelling narrative in “Intimate Apparel.” The play centers on Esther, a Black seamstress in 1905 New York, who creates exquisite lingerie for women of all social classes. Nottage explores themes of race, class, and female independence through Esther’s dreams of love and a life beyond her solitary existence. A panel of local Black women will then speak about their experiences. Panel members are NAACP Interim Executive Director Deborah Reynolds-Lange, Stella Dadson, Martha Moultry, DeLeesa Meashintubby, and Irene Rasheed.
