U.S. HOUSE PASSES THE NAACP-SUPPORTED EQUALITY ACT

On May 17, 2019, by a bipartisan vote of 236 yeas to 173 nays the U.S. House voted to approve and send to the Senate H.R. 5, the NAACP-supported Equality Act.  We must now do all we can to ensure the U.S. Senate takes up and passes the Equality Act as soon as possible, so that all Americans can began to enjoy the freedoms to live free of discrimination guaranteed to us by the U.S. Constitution.

For more than 110 years, the NAACP has struggled against discrimination and for equality for all Americans, regardless of who they are, what they look like, or who they decide to love. This seminal legislation would update federal law to include nondiscrimination protections for all Americans based on sexual orientation and gender identity across virtually every area of daily life. The Equality Act would directly impact seven million LGBTQ Americans who currently live in 30 states across the country that lack these clear and comprehensive protections.

Contact both of your U.S. Senators and urge them to pass the Equality Act (H.R. 5/ S. 788) now.
